TRANSPORT

24/02/2009 16:43:19 - By host - comments 1 Comments

The School car park has very limited parking and congestion can be severe. Parents are therefore requested to use buses or share cars if at all possible. For more information on car sharing contact your CESPA representative or register at www.school-run.org

Nursery and Primary parents should leave promptly, so that Secondary pupils can be collected more easily.

Buses organised by parents  (Click here for routes and more information)

Daily buses to and from Oxford and Reading via Didcot are organised by individual parents on behalf of the Parents’ Association (CESPA). Interested parents should contact the organisers who can give details of costs and timetables, and put their names on a waiting list if necessary.  Oxford buses are run by BLOC (Bus Link Oxford-Culham)

A Wednesday and Friday lunchtime service covers the three Oxford routes - contact  Mrs Pollini for more details.

Public Transport

The 114/116 bus route (formerly the 140) (Abingdon-Culham-Dorchester-Wallingford) stops at the school. Copies of the timetable are available from Reception. The bus times coincide with the start/end of the school day. The timetable is available on-line at www.heyfordian.travel/

Heyfordian Travel will be issuing both termly and multi-journey tickets (12 single journeys fort he price of 10). Heyfordian can be contacted at their Head Office at Murdoch Road, Bicester, Oxon, OX26 4PP

There are infrequent trains from Culham station (1 km).

Cycling

Cyclists should use the cycle path by the A415 and use the entrance by the Chapel. Cycling through the premises is not allowed. Bicycles should be left in the cycle racks by the Chapel.

Mopeds/Motorbikes

Students who come to school on a moped or motorbike should park their bike in the cycle sheds at the rear of the school.

Travel by car

  • Dropping off:  Pupils should be dropped off in the car park in Thame Lane, or in the ‘drop and go’ area in the bus bay.  Do not drop off on the main A415 road.  Do not enter the main driveway.
  • In the interest of pupils’ safety, would drivers in Thame Lane please:
  • drive extremely carefully.  Watch out for pupils and parents crossing the road on the designated path between the car park and the cycle sheds;
  • do not  park anywhere in Thame Lane (including the grass verges by the car park) -  parked cars stop the traffic flow; use the car park at all times;
  • do not park or leave cars unattended in the drop & go/bus bay;
  • do not stop in the lane designated for moving traffic;
  • never park in the bus lane (by the fence);
  • always give priority to school buses and give them space to manoeuvre in and out of the bus bay;
  • be courteous to staff, parents and other road users;
  • be patient.
