LEARNING SUPPORT

24/02/2009 15:33:53 - By SuperUser Account - comments 0 Comments

In all classes of the school pupils may be offered Learning Support in subjects where they are behind for one reason or another. Special crash courses may be organised for new pupils whose level in language is insufficient.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Individual support is available for certain pupils with duly diagnosed and certified learning difficulties such as dyslexia or dyscalculia. Parents should present a written request for assistance with supporting documentation (results of tests by a qualified authority) to the school management. An advisory group of management, teachers, specialists and the parents concerned will meet and offer advice to the Head, who will take the final decision on the type of support the school can offer.

Students Without A Language Section (SWALS)

The school can provide support to pupils who are in a language section which is not that of their mother tongue. The support will not be given automatically, but it will be provided on the basis of a clear need. In some cases a pupil will receive support in his/her mother tongue, in other cases support may be more necessary in L2 or L3, which are really the pupil’s L3/L4.
