Italian Literary Contest

This academic year, the Italian Section organized a Literary Contest. Trying to keep it light-hearted, we called it “Italiano, che passione!”.

As strongly committed learners of Italian, we participated enthusiastically in this initiative. For the competition, Mr Talevi matched mother-tongue students of the same age with students who were learning Italian as third or fourth language.

The competition took place in the Chapel on the 24th September and in spite of the length of the competition – it took 5 hours! - we had a lot of fun. After some awkwardness at the beginning, because we didn’t know our partners, we found out that the chosen theme was “A detective story set in the European School”.  We immediately set to work making up savage crime scenes against students, and the murders of principals and secretaries by serial killers and mad, imaginary, professors.

Of course, you can easily imagine how liberating it was to slaughter all these unfortunate people!

The Judges’ team was made up of all the teachers from the Italian Section. They read all the short stories, voted and published the competition winners.

The six winners will receive an Amazon voucher of 100 Pounds' prize  from the Provincia di Parma, as proposed by the Italian inspector. On top of that, the judges decided to reward another six students with a book and a DVD “Io non ho paura” by Ammanniti, for the originality of their ideas. (Thank you to CESPA for contributing prize money)

Here is the list of the winners:

  • 1st place:  Luca DI  FINO (IS5) and Daniel  MOORE (ES3)  for  “MISTERIOSI DELITTI”
  • 2nd place: Lucio PEZZELLA (IS4) and Matyas MOLNAR (FS3) for “BRACCIO PAZZO”
  • 3rd place: Leo BOSCHERINI (IS6) and Samuel  BOREN  REAST (ES4) for “IL CAFFE“
