Fantastic Season for Christian von Eitzen DS2

Last weekend Christian performed brilliantly at the Inter-counties competition representing the  Radley team, he finished 2nd 1sec from the first place. This event was live on Sky, what a great performance.

In addition, Christian will represent the European School Culham at the English Schools Inter-County Competition that takes place in Manchester next Saturday 20th March 2010.  We hope Chris repeats his great performance from last weekend in Birmingham and finishes top eight. The first eight runners will represent England.

Read below an article where Chris is mentioned.

Glorious End to Oxford Mail Cross Country Series - Radley wins five age group overall titles and two team titles
Joe Bibby - Posted on 07 March 2010

On a fine spring like morning Radleys young athletes continued their excellent cross country form at Oxford on Sunday. It was the final event of the Oxford Mail series and the time for the final placings to be decided. In the U11 girls race Nawal Elkirate continued to dominate and won her fifth race of the season to win the overall girls title. Harriet Batstone continued her impressive end to the season finishing third in her second successive race and Shelbie Jackson on her debut finished a very creditable ninth.
In the U11 Boys race Robby Crowther, who had won all four previous race's had already secured the overall boys title, was injured and resting before next weeks inter counties where he will be competing in the U13's event. In his absence TJ McClimont and Johnathon Hancox were battling for overall second and third. TJ knew he had to win to secure a medal and in a thrilling display of front running he won the race followed closely by Jonathan. Overall Robby won the gold, Johnathan the silver and TJ the bronze - a clean sweep for the Radley boys.
In the U13 Girls race Megan Humphreys continued the Radley domination by winning the race and sharing the overall title with Beth Hawtin from Oxford City. This was a remarkable overall result as Megan still has another year in this very strong age group and was injured at the start of the season, missing the first race.
In the U13 Boys race the team of Charlie Miller, Jacob Walton and Joe Dallimore ran well to consolidate the team position and secure the U13 Boys title for Radley. Christian Von Eitzen who had won the overall title by winning the first four races did not run in this race preferring instead to get experience for next weeks inter counties and English Schools by running in the U15/U17 boys race.
In the under 17 /  under 15 Girls race Gemma Bridge finished fifth and secured second overall in the U17 girls competition. In the U15's Briony Duff finished in her highest finish of the season in 14th place.
The under 17 / under 15 Boys race provided the highlight of the day for Radley. George Miller won the race and extended his lead in the overall competition to win it comfortably. Supported by Jack Humphreys and James Purcell Lacey the boys also won the team trophy. In addition to this success there was an incredible run from Christian Von Eitzen, having already won the U13 boys competition he ran as a guest against the older boys. A top ten performance would have been a great result - he finished second. He can go into the national races over the next two weeks with great confidence.
In the senior races Sam Miller continued to impress with a finish just outside the top 50 and secured fourth place in the under 20's competition. Naomi Handley completed an excellent season in the senior ladies category and finished 10th overall.
With only the end of season national races to come it has been an excellent cross country season. To all those athletes who competed in rain, sun, snow and sleet well done. It has been fun to cheer you all home.
