Student Visit in August 2010

   Minimize

This academic year a group of 15 students from Year 5 (Year 11) and Year 6 (Year 12) and two teachers and one parent will visit Zambia. We will visit our two partner schools - Mutende Basic in Kitwe and Maanu Mwami in Livingstone as well as the Funsani orphanage outside Kitwe.

Our global outreach programme will include a 4-5 day stay at the two schools each helping out with teaching of the younger children, renovation work and gardening as needed. We are also planning to spend a couple of days at the Funsani orphanage helping with homework and daily chores.

The main objective is to engage with the children and students at our partner schools and to immerse ourselves into Zambian daily life. Getting to know of the similarities and differences of both cultures and to grow an understanding for global responsibilities of each individual will be a great gain for our students.

In addition to our educational focus we intend to undertake a canoeing safari on the Zambezi river, visit a traditional village, the Victoria Falls and the capital city Lusaka in order to get a bigger picture of the country with its historical and natural wealth.
